This year te annual airshow at Koksijde has also been the sixth edition of the Defence Days: besides the airshow, which always manages to attract most interesting participants, the Koksijde airbase has also shown this year the many facets of the Belgian Defence. Skycontrol attended the show but also the preparations for it and is pleased to offer you a photographic overview of some personal highlights of this highly successful KOKSIJDE AIRSHOW 2007.

 

It was advertised as a two-day event, but the press knew that Friday was the best moment to capture the arrival of the planes and to interview pilots. The military press service had kindly invited photographers and journalists to attend the preparations for the show. Of course Skycontrol positively answered to this invitation and was present on Friday 29 June to welcome the arriving participants.

Unfortunately, in the morning, rain was also the order of the day. Nose pointed at the sky we were waiting for a break in the weather. A few hours later, the miracle happens! As from 2 pm it stopped raining. Looking to the horizon for the sound of mighty engines, we were not disappointed: the aircraft were not slow to arrive: the Catalina, the Fouga, the Alouette, the F16 were amongst the first to arrive.

A large selection of military fast jets filled the Koksijde sky with the sound of freedom.

Being a helicopter base, Koksijde always attracts a large number of rotary wing aircraft.

For many years now the Schweizer Luftwaffe become a regular guest at the Belgian coast in the past few years.

At the end of the afternoon came the heavy metal: the C-130, the Awacs E3A, the Antonov 26, …

Friday evening, everything was ready to offer to the visitors an unforgettable show. The static display was equally challenging. Near the main entrance, there was a long line with a mix of small transport aircraft, fighters and helicopters. The visitors could arrive and the show can start…
