19 Wing announces: Medical Evacuation from a Construction Camp

A Cormorant crew from 442 Transport and Rescue Squadron was tasked by the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre in Victoria last night to medically evacuate a 54-year-old male from a Toba River construction camp at the head of Toba Inlet. “The helicopter crew landed in a confined area and was met by some of the camp staff. The Search and Rescue technicians (SAR techs) were taken by truck to a first aid station where the patient was being treated by a camp nurse” said Sergeant Wayde Simpson, a SAR tech from the Cormorant. The patient was taken by ambulance to the waiting helicopter.

The Cormorant returned to 19 Wing and transferred care to an Emergency Health Services (EHS) ambulance who took the patient to St. Joseph’s Hospital. The patient’s current condition is not known. Cormorant crew: Aircraft Commander Capt. Pellerin, First Officer Capt. Dockeray, Flight Engineer MCpl Pettie and Search and Rescue Technicians  Sgt Simpson, MCpls Kerr and Seguin.
