| Description | Established in March 1989, the Canadian Space Agency (CSA) derives its authority from the Canadian Space Agency Act, sanctioned in December 1990. The CSA has a status equivalent to that of a department of the Federal Government. Reporting to the Minister of Industry, the Chief Executive Officer of the Agency is the President (whose rank is equal to that of a Deputy Minister), under whom five core functions are carried out (Space Programs, Space Technologies, Space Science, Canadian Astronaut Office, Space Operations), as well as six executive functions (Audit, Evaluation and Review; Corporate Management; Communications; Strategic Development; External Relations; Government Liaison) and three Corporate functions (Legal Services, Administration, and Human Resources). The President is supported by the Senior Vice-President and the Vice-President, Science, Technology and Programs. |
