Enstrom Helicopter Corporation in partnership with Gyrocam® Systems is displaying an Enstrom 480B Guardian helicopter outfitted with the Gyrocam® IR dual sensor surveillance camera, and a Spectro Lab® SX-5 searchlight, at the Helicopter Association International (HAI), Heli-Expo booth 4813.

The Enstrom 480B Guardian showcases an ideal law enforcement platform that comes standard with police mission equipment. The Enstrom 480B’s open tail rotor design provides exceptional performance, and handling capability in windy conditions. “The superb visibility combined with the solid dynamically stable performance makes this aircraft an excellent choice for the police or sheriffs mission”, said Bayard DuPont, Director of Product Support and the chief demonstration pilot for Enstrom.

The Gyrocam® IR infrared/color camera is a high performance dual sensor system; combining thermal imaging and high resolution color in a single, lightweight gimbal. The 800 line, 3-chip color camera provides clear, crisp images, recording every detail in high resolution. The 3 to 5 micron infrared sensor includes a 17mm to 200mm optical lens and can capture differences in heat signatures, in either traditional black and white, or as color enhanced images.
