When you got 75 years old we believe it is time to celebrate this age that’s what they thought by Aeroplane Heaven developer and publisher just Flight to commemorate the Tiger Moth and release it for both FS2004 and FSX. The first prototype D.H.82 A Tiger Moth flew for the first time in October 1931. The design of this bi plane where based and originate from the WW1 successful Gipsy moth DH60 and the targets should be based on simplicity and safety and be used by private owners as well as for instructional purpose.

The Tiger Moth became the basic trainer aircraft by the Royal Air force from 1934 until 1946 and generally to be flew on feeling therefore the tiger moth engenders and still do a sense of “freedom“. After WW2 many Tiger Moth where release to non military market and even today this bi plane can be seeing you on some occasional air shows or at an Aero Club belonging to one or other private owner.
The download and installation process is smooth and during the install the program will ask to which Flight simulator you wanted to install it. (FS2004 or FSX)
For those who want it can be installed on both. The documentation which comes along the installation is in PDF format and in 3 languages and understandable for every one and of course you should have a look on it before to jump in your Tiger Moth.
When looking in your hangar you will discover a lot of tiger’s! as Aeroplane Heaven developers furnished us with all possible variant of this bi plane civilian as well as the RAF and RAF training and of course the glass canopy DH8c. This with 8 different liveries and you may have the choice by Front pilot and or without passenger in the rear or as rear pilot with or without passenger in the front.

When you take place for the first time in your tiger moth the panel may surprise you and you may thinking that the developers have forgotten some instruments, but they didn’t as the aircraft is a 1930 vintage and at that time there was no GPS or other navigation facility Oil press, RPM, inclinometer, altimeter, and a compass. Compass and radio com. Can be call up and undock if desired to your second screen. In the glass canopy variant the panel look more familiar as may see in today’s panel.

Furthermore you will find the throttle lever mixture and elevator trim. Aeroplane Heaven have paid attention to a highly authentic period panel and believe that they succeeded into it But for this aircraft your will find it better to fly it with the virtual cockpit which will give you a better immersion and a little more of realism to.

When having a look on the external model view you will see that Aeroplane Heaven did a great job for what concerning the details and moving parts.
Open the right side of the engine panel the Gypsy engine is not only well detailed with moving throttle. A stowage locker and a blind Flying hood for instrument training purpose both operational. External working wind driven gauge. Main wheel shock absorbers, tail wheel skid. Screws and rigging wire are reproduced including the tiny turnbuckles used for true up rigging. Doors and canopy are opening.
The staggered wings include a working auto leading edge slats which extends when you’re approaching the stall speed. These can be locked by the lever located in the cockpit and when deflected the ailerons will only extend downwards partway to counteract some of the adverse yaw effects just a by the real one.

All the great job did stop here the sound of the Gypsy Major engine is as real a you will hear in the real one this make it complete to get you back of those good old days of freedom flights. And you passengers look fine too always happy.
The Tiger Moth is not only a beauty to look at it flying it is delightful of course only VFR flights with your compass and reacts as like the real one. When on the ground the Tiger is easy to handle but with care and on the take off run you will need to give some rudder to counter the torque of the propeller. Once in the air you and with some trim it is relatively stable and on turn you may again use some rudder to having the aircraft in to a balanced flight. Don’t start immediately with aerobatic as the tiger moth as some limits on lateral stability get some familiarisation and enough speed to succeed rolls and loops.

Once more Aeroplane Heaven did here a great job for the flight dynamics. You have a small aircraft but a great bi plane with a great look a great sound and a great flight dynamics and I recommended for the beginner for learning the basic of flying as well for the more advanced as it will give you some great VFR fun flight. This packages is must have one!
