Cyberseat is a high fidelity single seat low cost motionbase simulator. It brings games and motion films to life by recreating the movements which you see on the screen. It sounds straightforward but some very clever engineering has produced a simple linear motor powered device which is driven from a household electricity supply and connects straight into the USB port on your computer.

It’s not just another motion simulator. Because it’s a USB device, it can interface straight into the latest generation of PC games with their stunning visual and sound effects. Driving and flying games are particularly exciting.
Because Cyberseat is compact, modular and easily transportable, it lends itself to a variety of applications including:
Cyberseat is available
Location Based Entertainment
Cyberseat is ideal for location based attractions. The base is low, the moving parts are underneath the seat and protected by a skirt, keeping the passenger away from the finger nipping areas. The base runs off a standard 13A 240V power supply and has an optional onboard compressor so that it can be completely self contained. It is light enough to redeploy between locations.
Interactive Entertainment
Motionbases can now add excitement to interactive rather than just pre-programmed entertainment. The latest generation of games offer staggering real time graphics, sound and levels of reality which were unthinkable only a few years ago. In fact, some of these games are realistic enough to support pilot or driver training.
Cyberseat’s programmers have written a series of windows drivers which pick up the game telemetry and add the dimension of motion to the gaming experience. Popular titles include Microsoft Flight Simulator and Live for Speed.
Because the Cyberseat is a USB games peripheral, it is easily integrated into an Arcade setting. For high levels of realism on the race track, we recommend Live for Speed to allow participants to experience what it feels to be a professional.
MotionRide Attractions
There is a significant market for large screen pre-programmed ride attractions. In fact, Cyberseat’s engineers designed and built the four seater 850kg payload, 6-dof platforms for Kraftwerk’s memorable cinema attractions in Austria so that the new 3 dof Cyberseat is fully compatible with Showscan theatre software and existing motion files. For cinema use, Cyberseat can be supplied as a rack mountable module to provide a bank of individual rides. It can be fully integrated into and driven directly by the AV Stumpfl Wings Platinum show control software which includes a motion file editor.
Theming
The motionbase can be supplied in barebones form with just top and bottom mounting frames so that the surround, passenger seat and controls can be styled to your particular theme.
Technical Specification
The Cyberseat simulator is a state of the art single seat low cost motionbase for use in the games and driver/pilot training market. It is also probably the world’s biggest USB device.
The base is driven by dual energy source actuators. The deadweight is supported pneumatically. Positioning and motion are delivered by 3 linear motors designed and manufactured by Cyberseat which develop 300N thrust and have a stroke of 100mm. They use Cyberseat’s own motor controllers designed around a custom motor control chip.
The base has three degrees of freedom - +/-12.5 degrees of pitch and roll and +/-50mm of heave, with 1g acceleration makes for a robust gaming experience.
The technology is quite different from other motionbase technologies. The Cyberseat is compact. It is extremely quick acting, and ideal for real-time interactive games. It is powered from a standard 13 amp household socket. A built-in compressor provides air at 8 bar.
Games interface to the base through the USB interface using game specific software drivers. Drivers available include Microsoft Flight Simulator™ and Live for Speed™ with drivers for Codemasters Colin McRae Rally 2005™ and other popular games to be released shortly.
An SDK is available for software developers to write their own drivers. Outputs are taken from the game’s physics engine and transformed into leg positions which are sent out on the USB port.
In the version at the show, the seat is a modified rally car seat. On-board fixed mountings are provided for steering wheel and pedals OR flight yoke and flight pedals OR joystick and mouse pad as these need to be firmly secured to the moving top frame.
