Kerrville, TX— Mooney Airplane Company of Kerrville, Texas and Air Touring GmbH, based in Burbach, Germany, will be displaying a Mooney Ovation3 at the third biennial Air Magdeburg international air show, held at Airport Magdeburg, September 5-7. The two firms recently announced an agreement under which Air Touring GmbH (part of the Air Touring Group plc (UK)) will sell Mooneys and represent the American high-performance single engine airplane manufacturer in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Air Touring GmbH’s London-based counterpart, Air Touring Ltd., has also teamed with Mooney to sell and service Mooney aircraft in the United Kingdom and Ireland.
Mooney and Air Touring GmbH will have a new Ovation3 on static display. The 310 horsepower Ovation3 is the world’s fastest normally-aspirated single engine airplane, with a maximum cruise speed of 197 knots at 8,000 feet. It can fly non-stop for more than 1,860 nautical miles. “Air Magdeburg 2008 represents another venue in a growing list of air show sites in Europe where aviation enthusiasts and prospective aircraft buyers gather. It’s an outstanding opportunity for us to interact with them and provide a detailed, hands on exposure to Mooney’s industry-leading, hand-crafted quality,” said Mooney’s manager of international sales Susan Harrison. In addition to spotlighting the Ovation3, Mooney and Air Touring, GmbH will provide information on the Ovation2 GX and the Acclaim Type S, as well.
“Germany and Central Europe are considered key sales territories for Mooney aircraft. Exhibiting at the Magdeburg show is the start of an intense sales program aimed at this particular geographical market,” Air Touring GmbH’s Managing Director Bernard Cheong said.
Since 2004 the Messe-und Veranstaltungsgesellschaft Magdeburg GmbH has organized the International Trade Fair for Sports and Business aviation on a biennial basis. This year, a “Fair in the Fair” will highlight aircraft maintenance, tools and parts. AIR MAGDEBURG 2008 will also celebrate 100 years of aviation in Germany. Hans Grade’s tri-plane flight on October 28th, 1908 in Magdeburg is considered to be the country’s birth of powered flight.
