SAVANNAH , Ga. , Feb. 12, 2007 – A Gulfstream G150 business jet set a new city-pair speed record flying 2,881 nautical miles between Nice , France , and Dubai , United Arab Emirates , in five hours and 47 minutes. Piloted by Eric Henman, Gulfstream international demonstration captain, and Mike Perry, Gulfstream demonstration captain, the wide-cabin G150 took off from the Côte d’Azur International Airport in Nice on Jan. 30. With one passenger onboard and full fuel tanks, the G150 climbed directly to 41,000 feet and flew at an average cruise speed of 0.78 Mach and with average tailwinds of 75 knots. The G150 landed five hours and 47 minutes later at Dubai International Airport with 2,030 pounds of fuel remaining.
The G150 established three records two weeks earlier, connecting White Plains , N.Y. , to Long Beach , Calif. ; Long Beach to Aspen , Colo. ; and Aspen to White Plains . Gulfstream’s newest business jet established its first city-pair record in May 2006, when a G150 test aircraft flew from Tel Aviv to Geneva , Switzerland . There are currently 10 G150s in service.
Gulfstream has submitted an application to the National Aeronautic Association to confirm the new city-pair record.
