Manufacturer discusses narrowing capacity-demand gap, broad E-Jets deployment São José dos Campos, May 23, 2006 – Embraer today offered an overview of how its EMBRAER 170/190 family is helping airlines optimize the balance between capacity and demand. At the 2006 Regional Airline Association Annual Conference in Dallas, the leading manufacturer of jets up to 110 seats shared a broad view of E-Jets operations by its North American customers.

“As we watch 139 E-Jets in service worldwide, it is clear the EMBRAER 170/190 family is fulfilling its mission of tapping the gap between 70 and 110 seats, offering superior economics, performance and passenger comfort,” said Frederico Fleury Curado, Embraer Executive Vice-President, Airline Market.
Today, E-Jets have been ordered by or are operating for 21 airlines in 17 countries, including five U.S. carriers. E-Jets are flying for regional, traditional network, and low cost carriers and have accrued nearly 315,000 flight hours as of April 28, 2006. As of March 31, 2006, the E-Jets orderbook totaled 452 firm orders and 442 options.
“About 41 percent of E-Jets in North America were deployed to right-size markets previously served by aircraft that were either too large or too small,” said Mark Hale, Vice-President, Marketing and Sales - USA, Canada and Caribbean, Airline Market. “What’s more impressive is the ability of the airplanes to supplement mainline narrowbody schedules. Airlines have operated their E-Jets between new city pairs that, in some cases, have exceeded five hours flight time.”
There are 99 EMBRAER 170/190 family jets in service in North America with Air Canada, JetBlue, and Republic Airways for United Express, US Airways Express and Delta Connection. In the fourth quarter 2005, these aircraft were deployed to accommodate natural growth (45 percent), right-size existing routes (41 percent) and 14 percent to open new routes.
