From 26th July to 7th September Major engineering works will be taking place between Chorley and Preston. First Transpennine Express and Northern Rail will operate a revised timetable. Services to and from Edinburgh, Glasgow, Carlisle, Windermere, Oxenholme (Lake District), Barrow-In-Furness, Blackpool North, Preston, Chorley, Bolton, Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Airport will run a revised timetable. Services between Manchester and Preston will run via an alternative route and will not call at Chorley ( A limited number will not call at Bolton)

Buses will replace trains between Chorley and Preston. Northern Rail will operate an hourly service between Bolton and Chorley supplemented by an hourly replacement bus service.
