(St. Louis) Lambert-St. Louis International Airport has selected its first round of design consultants for its major renovation campaign called the Airport Experience Program. The renovations will modernize and restore the Main Terminal and concourses to improve airport functions and improve the overall passenger experience. Proposed improvements include restoring the terminal’s domed ceilings; replacing inbound baggage claim systems; overhauling Lambert’s roadway sign program; modernizing ticket counter operations; constructing new restrooms, upgrading security screening checkpoints, installing new floor, ceiling and wall finishes; improving passenger circulation areas and adding new restaurants and other concessions.
Selected Consultants:
The first project is the restoration of Lambert’s historic domed ceilings which is scheduled to begin in mid-July. Replacement of the in-bound baggage system and Wayfinding signage projects will begin early 2009. The other proposed projects will start after completion of their respective design phases. Lambert will make a formal announcement about the first projects in the Airport Experience Program in July.
Lambert is the 30th busiest airport in the U.S. (32nd in North America) as ranked by Airports Council International-North America. Lambert serves more than 15 million passengers a year with nearly 350 daily departures to more than 70 national and international destinations.
