Easter exodus at Brussels Airport

Brussels Airport, 20 March 2008 – During the next few days Brussels Airport expects record numbers of passengers at the start of the Easter holidays. On Friday 27,000 departing passengers are expected, on Saturday over 25,000 and both on Sunday and Monday about 24,000. The departure hall will be particularly busy in the early hours and throughout the morning. On Friday evening and Monday evening too there will be a great rush. Brussels Airport urges holidaymakers to arrive at the airport well in time and reminds passengers of the security restrictions on liquids and gels. Liquids and gel-like substances can only be carried into the cabin in very limited quantities. Detailed information is available on the airport’s website www.brusselsairport.be.

Drinks in bottles and cans may be carried in the hold baggage, but are not allowed in the carry-on baggage. When packing for a holiday break, passengers often overlook that care products (shampoo, tooth paste, shaving cream,…) too are prohibited in the cabin. During previous holidays the security services confiscated between 400 and 500 litres of prohibited items every day.

Passengers with reduced mobility who need special assistance are reminded that they should inform their airline of their particular needs at least 48 hours in advance.
