TEMPE, Ariz.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Sept. 12, 2008–US Airways (NYSE:LCC) today announced changes to its executive team, including the promotion of David Seymour to senior vice president, technical operations and the expanded roles of Senior Vice President, Marketing and Planning Andrew Nocella and Vice President, Human Resources Daniel Pon. The company previously communicated to its employees the departures of Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer Joe Beery and Vice President, Sales and Marketing Travis Christ; and the retirement at the end of this year of Vice President, Culture (which included responsibility for recruitment and leadership development) Larry LeSueur.

David Seymour: As previously announced this summer, and with the recent retirement of the airline’s former Senior Vice President, Technical Operations Hal Heule, Seymour has responsibility for the airline’s technical operations and maintenance. He will continue to report to Chief Operating Officer Robert Isom.
Seymour brings more than 22 years of logistics and operational experience to his new leadership role at US Airways. He began his career as an infantry officer in the U.S. Army followed by numerous management positions in purchasing, inventory management, distribution and finance. Seymour’s aviation career began with the former America West Airlines in 1999 as director of materials. He was later promoted to senior director, materials and planning, which included oversight of all aircraft material requirements and the management of all repairs and vendors. From December 2002 to April 2008 Seymour served as vice president, operations control and planning, overseeing the Operations Control Center and the crew resources and scheduling function. Most recently, he served as vice president, technical services.
Seymour holds a master’s of management in marketing and transportation from Kellogg Graduate School of Business, Northwestern University and a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematical science of operations research from the U.S. Military Academy.
Andrew Nocella: As the airline’s new senior vice president, marketing and planning, Nocella will continue to oversee the airline’s route scheduling and planning functions while assuming the additional oversight of advertising, business development, frequent flyers and sales. He will continue to report to Scott Kirby, US Airways’ president.
Nocella has significant aviation industry experience. In 1993 he joined Continental Airlines, where as a member of the airline’s route planning team he oversaw capacity planning for their mainline operation, creating Newark Liberty’s global gateway plan and was instrumental in developing Continental’s expanded presence in Latin America. In 1997, he joined America West Airlines as vice president, planning and scheduling, and in 2003, he moved to US Airways to serve as vice president of revenue management and pricing where he was responsible for all revenue planning and pricing decisions. Nocella was promoted to senior vice president of planning in 2005, where he maintained responsibility for planning, pricing and revenue management, and joined the new US Airways after the merger with America West in 2005. He most recently served as senior vice president, schedule planning and alliances.
Nocella is a graduate of George Mason University, and holds a bachelor’s degree in decision sciences.
Daniel Pon: Pon currently oversees the airline’s human resources division, including health, welfare and retirement benefits, compensation, relocation, HR systems and records, employee relations, drug and alcohol testing, and employee travel. His expanded role as vice president, human resources will bring the recruitment and staffing team directly under the Human Resources division. He will continue to report to Elise Eberwein, senior vice president, people and communications.
Pon was named vice president, human resources for US Airways in September 2007. He has more than 23 years of human resources experience in industries that include manufacturing, information technology, financial services and air cargo. Most recently, Dan was vice president of global compensation and benefits for Sanmina-SCI in California. Prior to Sanmina-SCI Dan held a variety of human resources leadership positions, including vice president of human resources for ASTAR Air Cargo, Inc (formerly DHL Airways, Inc.) and vice president of compensation, benefits, payroll and HRIS for E*Trade.
Pon earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science as well as his Masters of Arts in Public Administration from California State University-Hayward.
