Skydiving Hobby Results in Video System Developed for Extreme Sports Markets
A lifelong passion for freefall photography has enabled a skydiving videographer to develop a new video system for extreme sports enthusiasts. After years of having only heavy and dangerous helmet mounted cameras for his free fall filming and videotaping, Mike Swain developed SportsCam, a camera system that meets the unique miniature, lightweight, hands-free, and safety requirements of extreme sports activities. The new Sarasota, Florida based corporation SportsCam Video Systems, Inc. will manufacture and sell camera systems designed for these specialized markets.
The invention allows users to wear a miniaturized lightweight helmet or goggle mounted video camera and activate instant standby and record functions. For the first time, sports enthusiasts will have the ability to record their point of view sports experience on their own camera, to re-live the experience and to show to family and friends. The excellent picture quality will allow even professional videographers to utilize the system.
Sportscam’s lightweight design provides safety; comfort and convenience for all extreme sports such as snow skiing, mountain biking, skateboarding, untralight flying, racecar driving and skydiving. The lightweight miniaturized video camera small enough to be mounted inside goggles, removes the dangerous head weight of traditional helmet mounted cameras.
Instant power up, standby, and record functions of the system allow complete hands-free operation during the sports activity, a requirement for all extreme sports.
SportsCam has a patent pending and two other patents ready for submission. An NTSC system for the American market and a PAL system for the European market have been designed. The potential for military and law enforcement use is being studied.
Remember to mention that you saw it on SKYCONTROL!
